Best and worst jobs of 2010?

My class and I have looked at a website where they rated many jobs from best to worst. They did not only judge by the amount of pay, but by stress, physical demand, work environment, and hiring outlook. When I saw that software engineer was second I was sort of relieved because that is the kind of job I am aiming for. Not that I am certain that I want that, but at least somewhere in that direction. Then I read the comments and, unsurprisingly, they were really negative about the whole list. The random people posting about the list thought it was very inaccurate. The thing is I do not know what I wanted to believe.
If you have done enough web browsing like I have you will have learned that most commentators are real critics and are doubtful against the article. They might not like the list because of their personal interests. If they are right, though, then i really need to do better research on what i want. Getting all these perspectives is not really helping me out. It is making finding a career more of a pain in the ass because i am being told about what i should not do rather what i might want to do. Then again if i really want that perfect career, then i need to go through the troubles of all of this.
All people want is to get through life as easily as possible. When people find out that there are obstacles in the way, they lose interest. It seems as if what you think is, is it really worth all of this. I hate to think like this, but you really do have to struggle to get to the top. I guess it is more on you on how much you want to achieve your goals.

  1. I do not agree with this list of best and worst jobs, not because the career I want ranks in #98, but I feel that it depends on how much you actually like and are dedicated to your job. People who stress out from their career all day might need to get a new one because a career should be something you love and look forward to doing everyday, not waking up the morning dreading the day ahead of you. I think a better way to find out about your possible career is to just look for information, like what's excepted from a day to day basis, requirements and so forth rather than statistics and surveys because everybody has a different outlook on things.

  2. you were not sure at your major when you were introducing yourself on the first day class, but until today you think the software engineer may be your choice. I am glad you have made up your mind. I think software engineer may be a good career,it meets your personality and your interest. software engineer is always a hot job in the job market. moreover, information is very important component of your decision making.

  3. I thought along the same lines Jimmy. My job was not at the top of the list but it was on the list. One thing that I have learned is... never let someone elses perspective be yours. I say this because with perspectives can alter your thoughts and you might stray away from something you might really enjoy. It's just like a new movie when it come out, perhaps maybe your friend watches the movie before you and says, "that movie was crap"...you may not want to see the movie anymore and you might dislike the movie when you haven't even seen it. So don't let others perspective get you confused or alter your own. I say try it and if you don't like it then you know for sure. In this case research more and stick to the facts not the opinions.
