The book that I am reading for my class is called Turnings Points. So far, from what I have read, it is a book that helps you decide what type of career you are aiming for. It makes you think more on what you want and narrows down exactly what you are going for as a career. The book provides examples that you can relate with and tries to make it as easy as possible for you to decide what you want.
At first it shows that discovering your career is a lot more difficult than you think. You have to be a lot more specific on what you want. The book helps you ask questions so that you find out more on what you want for your career. Questions that involve your financial problem; if you have one; what type of education you need, and questions that revolve around how you are going to get the job and what the requirements would be. The activities allow me to find out what I want as well. One activity (task one) has me ask questions on what problems I need to figure out.
You have to be comfortable with knowing what problems you face. Identifying what your problems are is the first step you need to take. You need to know what your situation is and how you are going to solve it. You can not be afraid or deny what your problems are, you need to know them so that it can make achieving your goals easier.

I agree with your point of view when it comes to career as well as the book. It takes quality time to really decide what is or what are our long term objectives. The book seems to be well planned and thought of, and provides a variety of well design/specific questions that if answered in appropriate way may provide valuable answers and become a sort of a milestone in making/achieving goals.
